It’s strange to celebrate a holiday of independence this year. I don’t feel free. Constitutional rights like free speech are being attacked when the wrong point of view is expressed. Human rights are being violated. And the expected abhorrent bill to be signed today is nothing short of a death sentence for some Americans and further pushes the rest of us into poverty while further destroying the planet.

Politicians who represent me give nothing more than lip service and they make no meaningful challenges to the assault on this country. Instead, they maintain the status quo–or at least the new status quo. They’ve lost sight of who they represent and doom us instead.

No, there is nothing worth celebrating today. We simply left one king only to be reigned over by another.
