When I was young I learned about the U.S. government and how there were checks and balances. Well, apparently that relied on elected officials having respect for the office they hold, and for everyone else not bending the fuck over for them.

Not only is the current government becoming an oligarchy, it’s also well on its way to being fascist. The parallels between the rise of Hitler and what we see going on in the U.S. today are uncanny.

I could go into specifics, but I won’t. The reality is that everyone is just pretending like this is okay. Well it’s not.

Part of this is by design. The news is being flooded with increasingly ridiculous things. They are all distractions. To be honest, when I wrote daylight I considered that it was just a carefully chosen distraction. Of course, it doubled as the clearest dog whistle in history so distraction or not, dismissing it as just a distraction doesn’t hold people accountable for their actions.

Overwhelming everyone with a flood of ridiculous claims is just part of the greater picture. It serves to make people unengaged so they don’t resist all the changes that are being passed/ordered/etc. It also distracts the working class from uniting.

But at the same time they aren’t just distractions or ridiculous claims:

  • It’s an intentional strategy and the individual items do have weight or intent behind them.
  • It’s like a schoolyard bully who is pushing boundaries to see what they can get away with. If no one pushes back then they are emboldened.

Regardless, none of this should be too surprising. Project 2025 outlined a great deal of this already, and more to come. To me it was obvious that Project 2025 had ties to Trump and if anyone didn’t see that then they should get their nose out of the cult glue they’re sniffing. But how do you get people to unite against something like project 2025 when it is 700 pages long and the average person isn’t going to read a fraction of that? Or when they can’t even bother to read a single image summary and retain it for more than a second?

More importantly, how do you get people to care when they are overwhelmed?

I wish I knew.

History will remember the coming months. What history will tell, and what actually occurs is anyone’s guess.
